Director of FBI Urges Renewal of Patriot Act

Portions of Law to Expire This Year

FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III urged lawmakers yesterday to renew intelligence-gathering measures in the USA Patriot Act that are set to expire in December, calling them “exceptional” tools to help protect national security.

The law, passed shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, created divisions between proponents, who said it was necessary to deter terrorism, and privacy advocates warning that it tramples on Americans’ civil liberties. Portions of the law are up for reauthorization this year.

Mueller told members of the Senate Judiciary Committee he hopes that the reauthorization of two provisions would be far less controversial than in previous years. One of those provisions, which helps authorities secure access to business records, “has been exceptionally helpful in our national security investigations,” he said.

In response to a question from Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D-Md.), Mueller said that his agents had used the provision about 220 times between 2004 and 2007. Data for last year were not yet available, he said.

The measure allows investigators probing terrorism to seek a suspect’s records from third parties such as financial services and travel and telephone companies without notifying the suspect. The American Civil Liberties Union has criticized the provision, saying it violates the First Amendment rights of U.S. citizens.

Looting by U.S. Government at All-Time Highs

 Michael S. Rozeff

There are two bull markets going on right now. They are in U.S. government looting. They are Congressional looting and Federal Reserve (FED) looting. They are bull markets for the government, banks, and select beneficiaries. They are bear markets for the Americans being looted, which is most of us.

These bull markets in looting are at all-time highs. Never before has the amount of looting reached such astronomical heights, either in absolute terms or relative to other measures like population or product.

The looters are promoting their looting with a stream of false advertising and mis-information. They are claiming one false rationale after another. They are making out like their looting is essential to American prosperity and employment. There is no basis for these claims. The looting is transferring wealth from those who have created it to those who have not. It is outright theft by government. There is absolutely no way that theft through such transfers can ever create prosperity or employment.

Article 17 of the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights states

  1. Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others.
  2. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.

The U.S. government and the FED are engaged in massive violations of the right to own property, which entails the right not to be deprived of it arbitrarily. They are violating our rights to own property by taking that property from us for themselves and others. They are looting us.

Bank CEOs voice support for Obama’s economic plans

By Jeff Mason and Karey Wutkowski

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama won support from top bankers on Friday for his efforts to rid financial institutions of bad debts, but differences remained over broader U.S. plans for the financial industry.

The executives include:

Jamie Dimon, JP Morgan Chase & Co

Ken Chenault, American Express

John Koskinen, Freddie Mac

Ronald Logue, State Street Corp

Robert Kelly, Bank of New York Mellon Corp

Rick Waddell, Northern Trust

James Rohr, PNC Financial Services Group Inc

Lloyd Blankfein, Goldman Sachs Group Inc

John Mack, Morgan Stanley

Vikram Pandit, Citigroup

John Stumpf, Wells Fargo & Co

Cam Fine, Independent Community Bankers

Edward Yingling, ABA

Obama, in an interview later with CBS News, said he told the bankers they should be more sensitive to how Wall Street’s actions look to the rest of the country.

I’m sorry but after receiving billions of dollars prior to this bailout, and then having most if not all of your bad debt eliminated (thanks to the hardworking taxpayer), the President has the audacity to tell the bankers to try to be “sensitive” to the rest of the people who are being strewed by this deal… it gets worst…

“Show some restraint,” he said he told them. “Show that you get that this is a crisis and everybody has to make sacrifices.”

How much more does the President expect Americans to sacrifice?!? We have given up so much already and still he wants to continue to give more.  It’s obvious that the taxpayers are footing the bill for Wall street’s poor financial the decisions, and in during his campaign, President Obama promised us that he would not allow this to happen to the American people.

Obama saw the meeting as productive and frank, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said, adding the president stressed the importance of dealing with “toxic assets” — bad loans many banks are stuck with thanks to the collapse of the U.S. housing market.
These “toxic assets are a result of bad loans many banks made so why are the American people bailing them out. It was the banks  fault this collapse occurred and there is zero accountability on their part. These banks SHOULD fail!

“The president opened up by talking about the importance of dealing with toxic assets and getting banks lending again,” Gibbs told a briefing.

Clearly in this statement, we can see the president is clearly working with the bankers in adding to the already inflated bubble. Not only are Americans “footing the bill” to bail out the banks, they are also going to continue to give out large amounts of credit to further enslave the people. President Obama has not come up with an economic plan that will in the long-term benefit the people, it will only lead to further inflating the problem (debt) and keeping the people working for the banks.

UK “Green Advsior” Says Population Must Fall to 30 Million

Jonathan Leake
Times Online
March 23, 2009

Editor’s note: Mr. Porritt may set an example by removing himself from the planet immediately.

JONATHON PORRITT, one of Gordon Brown’s leading green advisers, is to warn that Britain must drastically reduce its population if it is to build a sustainable society.

Porritt’s call will come at this week’s annual conference of the Optimum Population Trust (OPT), of which he is patron.

The trust will release research suggesting UK population must be cut to 30m if the country wants to feed itself sustainably.

Porritt said: “Population growth, plus economic growth, is putting the world under terrible pressure.

“Each person in Britain has far more impact on the environment than those in developing countries so cutting our population is one way to reduce that impact.”

Population growth is one of the most politically sensitive environmental problems. The issues it raises, including religion, culture and immigration policy, have proved too toxic for most green groups.

Why the End of America is Closer than You Think

Sunday, March 22, 2009 by: Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
Key concepts: AmericaFederal Reserve and Economy

(CounterThink) I recently moved to Ecuador. Not for a vacation. Not for a month or two. I moved to Ecuador for good, as a permanent resident. Upon hearing my plans for living in South America, many people who knew me in the States asked things like, “Well what about the stability of Ecuador as a nation?” To which I would respond, “Oh, you mean the stability of banks that don’t make loans and don’t invest in derivatives? You mean the stability of a nation where the population still has the courage to march in the streets and throw corrupt officials out of its capitol?”

These questions make Americans pause. Most tend to think of public demonstrations as signs of a politicalinstability. But in fact, public demonstrations are a sign of a healthy Democratic process. And Democracy is alive and well in Ecuador (with the usual level of corruption you find in any democracy).

It is in America, where the sheeple have been terrorized into staying inside the boundaries of their little “protest zones,” that you find a fragile, unstable nation.

Through complacency and fear-mongering, most Americans have become cowards when it comes to political activism. They think emailing their Senator a few times a year is all that’s required to defend freedom and preserve a nation. Marching in the streets is seen as uncivilized… or even unpatriotic! The government agrees with this, too, now labeling anyone who protests in public a “potential terrorist” and targeting them for FBI investigations. (…)

The multi-trillion-dollar theft scheme

In the mean time, while the sheeple of America are caught up in their hypnotic dreams of world domination, white-collar hoodlums in Washington D.C. and Wall Street are stealing everything!

FBI planting spies in U.S. mosques, Muslim groups say

FactsNews – We don’t usually support corporate media, however, this is an important story that needs to be shared…

(CNN) — Ten U.S. Muslim organizations threatened this week to cease working with the FBI, citing “McCarthy-era tactics” by the agency, including efforts to covertly infiltrate California mosques.

Stephen Tidwell, then of the FBI's Los Angeles office, speaks at the Islamic Center of Irvine in 2006.

Stephen Tidwell, then of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, speaks at the Islamic Center of Irvine in 2006.

The groups claim the FBI has sent undercover agents posing as worshippers into mosques, pressured Muslims to become informants, labeled civil rights advocates as criminals and spread misinformation.

The FBI declined to comment on specific allegations but called the proposed move unproductive.

“Limiting honest dialogue, especially when complex issues are on the table, is generally not an effective advocacy strategy,” spokesman John Miller said in a statement. “The FBI has continued our outreach efforts, across the board, with a number of concerned groups and where we agree — or disagree — most have concluded the best results are achieved through continued conversation. We believe that, too.”

The group’s statement, dated Tuesday, said several incidents of the FBI “targeting Muslim Americans lead us to consider suspending ongoing outreach efforts.”
